Juan Ignacio Bello is a Chilean documentary director and cinematographer with over 20 years of experience telling stories across Latin America, the US and Europe. He trained in film at UNIACC in Santiago and studied cinematography at the EICTV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba.

His debut feature, Imaginarius, follows four children in Chile’s Elqui Valley as they imagine what the coming total solar eclipse will bring to their small town. The film won Best International Feature at the 2024 Chesapeake Film Festival and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video (US) and Tubi.

Along the way, Juan has worked as an editor on two feature documentaries at the San Francisco Film Center, and shot for brands like Red Bull, Riot Games, Televisa and Reebok. Today he’s based in Lyon, France, where he co-founded Revelation Optics and keeps doing what he loves most: finding honest, human stories and giving them a beautiful frame.
